Dear Residents of Trumbull Township,
My name is Adam Niewiadomski, and I am running for trustee. I have always
enjoyed the small-town, rural community growing up in Windsor Township. Wanting
to explore a different area, I decided Trumbull Township was the perfect fit for me. I
enjoy the small businesses and people that make up Trumbull Township. I became a
member of this community in 2012. I had purchased a home on Footville-Richmond
Rd. and started a wonderful family here, raising my now 9-year-old son. His mother
and I are overjoyed watching him grow up here, like many of you have watched your
family grow. As destiny may have it, a property on State Rd. came up for sale. We got
the opportunity to permanently dig our roots in this town. We purchased this property
and built our new family home. My brother also enjoys this area, as much as I do and
has also purchased a home on Barrett Rd.
As it pertains to becoming a trustee, I am sure some of you are wondering what
experience I have. I am a small business owner. I am part owner of a family-owned
construction company and the owner of Midwest Truck Parts. For almost a year now,
I have been the Trumbull Township Zoning Administrator. I have been to every
township meeting since I was hired. I took the job because I have a great rapport with
the Building, Health, and Plumbing departments. As well as the Ashtabula County
Auditor and Records office. It has given me the opportunity to see how this township
operates, which has been an eye-opening experience.
In my time as the Zoning Administrator, I have been able to guide community
members in the right direction to obtaining permits. Sometimes, zoning
administrations get a bad reputation for infringing on people's rights to use their
property as they see fit. I feel as though our current zoning regulations are showing
signs of needing to be updated. Following the guidelines and rules of zoning is what
keeps our properties of the highest value and protects us and our neighbors from
diminishing property values. Nobody wants our beautiful community to be full of
landfills and junk yards. However, I would love to get the community’s feedback on
what we could change for the better. I want nothing more than our community and its
members to be successful.
I have been asked the question, “Why are you running for trustee?” The answer
is simple our township needs a fresh perspective and new ideas. The community needs
to come together again. It has been pushed and pulled in many different directions
with lawsuits, mismanaged funds, and false promises. As a business owner, I can
bring a new perspective to the table. A common sense approach with positive results. I
work with many different vendors, that can bring us competitive pricing on our
equipment, supplies, and parts. This ultimately will save our township money. By
saving money this will allow other community goals/projects to be achieved. The
yearly budget our township works with is small. Even though, that doesn’t deter me
from maximizing its potential. We must stay on top of our spending. Townships seem
to always fall victim to price gouging by vendors. I will not let that happen to us.
For the residents that live on our unpaved roads, I have talked with some of you
and take your situation very seriously. I know you have heard the dust control song
and dance for many years. I can promise you will not find anyone more committed to
finding a resolve than me. I will explore every possible option, whether it be grant
money or checking with vendors for new innovations and aggregates. I will strive to
make your voices heard and refuse to let you down, where others have before.
Our Fire Department operates on a small fraction of the township budget. We
have recently acquired some fantastic, committed leadership in the department. We
need to make sure the ones protecting this community have the proper equipment.
Additionally, having more money allocated to the department only secures safety for
the community and the safety of those in the department. I intend to work with
volunteers and raise money for the fire department through business donations,
raffles, and benefit dinners. Providing these options for additional budgeting will
allow the fire department to get back on track. This will also open doors in gaining
more volunteers, community togetherness, and reassurance of safety.
Ultimately, I believe the key to turning this township around is using a strategy
that doesn’t raise taxes. Every last cent counts and I am going to make sure it is spent
in our best interest.
Here is how I plan to approach this:
1. Working with our road department to prioritize major issues on our secondary
roads. Making sure they can operate with the highest level of efficiency. Setting
realistic goals, achieving them, and moving forward. Developing a structure and a
schedule giving the ability to focus and finish a project. Having the road department
jumping from place to place doesn’t make them efficient and doesn’t achieve goals.
2. Obtaining grant money to benefit the township. Utilizing grant writers will expedite
the process. Grant writers give us the opportunity to go after the grants that best suit
the township.
3. Looking into our budget and finding the mismanaged funds and allocating them to
benefit Trumbull Township the most.
4. Searching for competitive pricing on our parts and supplies
5. Listening to the community, using that feedback to make a better township
environment.
Lastly, I would like to keep our community better informed on events such as our
annual Christmas Party and Trash Day. Hopefully, in the future adding more
community building events throughout the year. A hope of mine is after being elected
trustee; more community members will join us for the township meetings. Where
everyone can voice their concerns or provide feedback. I don’t want these meetings to
be a place where you feel talked down upon. I want us all to be heard, after all this is
OUR community. I welcome positive criticism. I want nothing more than you to be
honest with me as I will be with you. This community is important to me, and I will
strive to use this opportunity to prove my abilities as a trustee.
Come November 7th, 2023, I hope I can gain your support.
Common Sense Approach with POSITIVE Results
Sincerely,
Adam Niewiadomski
